Behaviour Based Safety...
AIC training programmes include the ability to train Behaviour Based Safety programmes in your organisation which will contribute to the improvement of both personal safety targets and process safety targets.
Behaviour Based Safety is a process that helps employees identify and choose a safe behaviour over an unsafe one.
Safety in the workplace is a combination of three measurable components:
The Person
Their environment
Their behaviour
The most commonly overlooked component is behaviour - what the person does on the job.
Behaviour Based Safety may be based on four key components:
A behavioural observation and feedback process
A formal review of observation data
Improvement goals
Reinforcement for improvement and goal attainment
Active Safety Agreements (ASA)
AIC offers a well developed and successful BBS training program called
Active Safety Agreements - or ASA
Active Safety Agreements (ASA) is a communications tool, applicable to all HSSE issues, specifically designed and developed to help managers and supervisors acquire new techniques and skills in order to enable them to satisfy the responsibilities of their job. Modern HSSE philosophies place the responsibility for creating a positive HSSE culture upon the shoulders of line managers. A positive HSSE culture is not something that can be taken for granted and it is for this reason that managers must strive to develop their HSSE knowledge and skills in order to achieve higher levels of safety in their area of responsibility.
ASA has been developed primarily as a management tool, providing managers and supervisors with a systematic approach to improving HSSE related behaviours in the workplace. ASA focuses on the people in the workplace.
The key skills used when applying ASA are observing people at work, questioning them about HSSE in relation to their activities, listening to what they have to say and making agreements - simply a conversation about HSSE.
ASA, when embraced by an organisation and applied within a structured regime, provides a systematic approach to establishing a strong and robust HSSE culture in the workplace, in other words, a way of life.
